The rules of exercise order of operations

A few “rules” exist:

  • Fast stuff before slow stuff.
  • Technical stuff before fatiguing stuff.
  • Big stuff before small stuff.
  • Complex stuff before simple stuff.
  • Difficult stuff before easy stuff.
  • Strength stuff before hypertrophy stuff.
  • Power stuff before strength stuff.
  • Speed stuff before power stuff.
  • Tough stuff before easy stuff.

But perhaps the most relevant:

Whatever you want to get better at most, do it first and do it fresh.
