You can expose your body to a gravity+ threat by jumping as high as you can into the air and then absorbing the impact. But the type of gravity+ threat needed to convince the body to build more muscle is sticky flavored.

Springy movements shock the system. Big creatures don't handle shocks well. An elephant won’t survive a fall of half it’s height, but an ant can survive a fall from the moon. The biggest cats aren't the most nimble cats.

There’s a sweet spot between springy and sticky. You need enough sticky-muscle to support the springy-shock. But there's a point of diminishing returns.

It's like giving your mafia men bazooka's instead of pistols. When working in close quarters, there's going to be collateral damage. No bueno.
