Muscle is a mafia.
Mafia men are expensive. They’re paid an hourly salary. They also get a signing bonus upon hire.
You’re thrifty. You need damn good reason to spend money on anything, let alone a mafia mob.
A mafia mob protects you. So if you aren’t threatened, you won’t even consider the purchase.
If there is a threat, you weigh the situation.
Do I have the money for the up front cost? Does it appear that I’ll have the money for the continued investment?
If so, pay. Hire the men.
If no, uh oh. Can’t spend what you don’t have. And mafia men don’t do pro bono work.
This waltz is continual.
If the threat goes away, you lay off the men. Why spend money on something you don’t need? You’re thrifty, remember?
…unlike my parents. They have fine china they never used when I was growing up. But it’s still there.
The body isn’t so kind.
If the money situation changes (for the worse) you lay off the men. You can’t spend money you don’t have. Even if there is a threat.
